May Kindness resound in my voice
May Clarity shine through my mind
May Solace abound through my life touching all who I meet
May Solace abound in the world bringing all beings into perfect union.

We hope you have all had a peaceful festive season, merging with bliss!

The Benefits of Unfocus

This episode of The Digital Human looks at the potential benefits of being unfocused and the value these moments of distraction might bring us.

It explores the various ways in which periods of unfocus can positively impact our lives, both at work and home, posing the question: should we value unfocus as much as we value focus?
Sound Postcards

These wonderfully peaceful podcasts from Radio Lento created by two parents feature "sound postcards" from beautiful places in and around the UK.

The one titled Night beside a stream in Wales (sleep safe) was recorded by a stream near the village of Ceri and is the perfect podcast to relax you before sleep, or at the end of a stressful day.

This study evaluated the nasal microbiota of Indigenous Australian children, in a population that is at high risk of recurrent otitis media. The study demonstrated some interesting microbiome profile differences between the nasal microbiome of children that are prone to reoccurrence of otitis media, and those that are not, paving the way to further research in how manipulating the nasal microbiome might be protective in this vulnerable population.

MS Drug for Alzheimer's:

A new study suggests that a drug used to treat multiple sclerosis (MS) may help alleviate the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. The drug glatiramer acetate (GA) was given to transgenic 3xTg-AD mice for 8 weeks and found that performance in Novel Object Recognition was markedly improved in the transgenic mice that the researchers had given GA to compared with the control group.
Wilted Spinach & Spiced Turkey

A great way to use up any leftover Christmas turkey! You can also use chicken instead.

Ingredients (serves 1):
200g turkey meat
1 onion, chopped
1-2 tablespoons olive oil
2 teaspoons paprika
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
¼ teaspoon ground coriander seed
1 ripe mango, peeled/pitted and cut into large chunks
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon sea salt
2 large handfuls of spinach

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
2. Place the turkey in a baking dish and coat with olive oil, sea salt, paprika, cumin seeds and coriander.
3. Bake for 10 minutes or until heated through.
4. Remove from the oven and set aside on a cutting board. Once the turkey is slightly cooled, cut into thin pieces.
5. Meanwhile, heat a large sauté pan over medium-high heat with 1 tablespoon coconut oil. When the oil is melted, add and gently cook the onions for 2-3 minutes. Toss in the mango and cook just until warmed through.
6. Add in the sliced turkey, spinach and lemon juice. Gently toss to combine and then cover the pan, allowing the spinach to steam until tender and wilted.
7. Sprinkle with a pinch of sea salt to taste and serve immediately.

Facebook Reviews

To support presence on social media we would appreciate a brief review on our Facebook page.

Your review should only take a few minutes of your time and and can help some prospective students understand your experience as a student. Reviews from recent and upcoming graduates of the degree programmes and clinical programmes would be welcome.

We would like to gather your feedback for CPD events at CNELM. There are several upcoming events to be held at CNELM and it would be great to gather your thoughts on these events, as well as internal events such as Lab days and other events run by CNELM staff.

Could anyone who has attended these events please email me their brief thoughts on them to coriander@cnelm.co.uk.
